Doi Mon Jong has a beautiful landscape filled with mountain ranges. The route to this mountain is beautiful with the shade of sunlight along the deep forest of Omkoi. The loveliness of the scenery is an attraction that makes visitors fall in love with this place. There are also fields of Rhododendron for the travelers to see. Rhododendrons are very hard to find in Thailand, one of the places where we can find them is Hua Sing peak, which is the highest peak on Omkoi. Rhododendrons will blossom in the sunlight, which is a very beautiful picture that tourists come to see especially during winter.

Doi Mon Jong is located in the Omkoi Wildlife Sanctuary, Musoe Forest Protection Unit, 131 Moo 2 Tambol Yangpiang, Amphur Omkoi, Chiangmai 50310. The route starts from Bangkok to Amphur Hot, Chiangmai. Then take the 108 highway and turn left to 1099 highway to Amphur Omkoi. After that drive to Musoe Forest Protection Unit and inform the officer about your visit in order to use the officer’s four-wheel car to Doi Mon Jong.

How to go:

1.by private car bangkok-Omkoi= 767 km. =9.53 hrs.

2.by public bus

2.1Leave Bangkok-Maehongson by Sombat tour during at 06.00 p.m.-09.30 a.m. or 08.45 p.m. to 10.00 a.m.but they are arriving at Hod District Station at 06.00 a.m.
Next,they ought to shopping food and water in Morning Hod Market.And they are waiting for public bus from here to Omkoi which is the first service at 08.30 a.m. Althought,they have free time about 2 hrs. to here.

It is 100 km. to Omkoi that is last station of public bus station and they should rest a local car to the next station is the Musoe Forest Protection Unit.

Or they arriving at Suan Son Bo Kaaw Research Station instead Hod ,but they ought to call Dech driver for meeting at here.Besides they go to Omkoi and the Musoe Forest Protection Unit.In addition,it is expensive for rent car.
-blue mini bus from Hod to Omkoi strat at 08.30 a.m. -12.30 a.m. =4 times daily
totally 2 hrs/80km.=75 Baht

2.2Leave Bangkok to Chiangmai Station by a lot of a public bus and the next step by mini bus or public van.

-leave Chiangmai Station 08.30 a.m. past Hod 10.30 a.m. arriving Omkoi 12.30 a.m.
-leave Chiangmai station 02.00 p.m. past Hod 04.00 p.m. arriving Omkoi 06.00 p.m.
totally 5 hrs/200 km.

Or by public van from Chiengmai-Omkoi
they can take on at near intersection Hayya during 05.00-05.15 a.m.=3 times daily
totally 3 hrs./200 km.=160 baht

From Omkoi Station to Mosoe Forest Protection Unit about 40 km.and here to based camp about 16 km.They visit in order to use the officer's four -wheel car to Doi Mon Jong=2500-3000 price/round.It is expensice,but they must have use it.

How to preparing for camping at Doi Mon Jong

1.At least day off 2-3 Day to this trip

2.Call to head officer Mosoe Forest protection Unit .his name is Sombat 080-796-6160 before visit there.Because here support only 60 person for Day.And officer must connet with the sherpas who is local people or Mousoe for visitor.

3.Preparing food and water for all(their gang+sherpas+officer)

4.Here is not toilet and they ought to preparing enough tissue.

5.Here is open only November to Febuary and they must have enough coat for warm

6.They body must healthy.
